As a cocktail aficionado, I did not try any of their margaritas. But, they offer some very interesting, not the same ole-same ole margarita drinks, listed on their menu. From Pineapple-Chipotle, Tamarind, Habanero-Lime, the offerings are quite intriguing. So, I am going to try one on my next visit, which will be very soon. Meanwhile, My wife and I both had Micheladas, and they were quite good, spicy and delicious, not like the sad mixes offered at so many other restaurants. We opted for the Sunday, brunch buffet. And, it was a really wonderful Sunday brunch buffet, too! No food sits under heat lamps...a buffet provided off of a special brunch menu. AND, the food is fantastic - starting with the Queso Fundido as opener! I sampled the Las Enchiladas and Puntas de Filet. My enchiladas (in a green verde sauce) were sweet and savory. The Puntas de Filet was a wonderful blend of steak, zucchini, onions, tomatoes. And, with warm flour tortillas, a very enjoyable dish. My wife started with the Huevos con cCorizo. The chorizo had amazing spice and the eggs were incredibly fluffy. She followed this with one of the two soups, Pozole (pork shoulder simmered in guakillo pepper broth, with hominy, garnished with shredded lettuce and chopped onions). She could not get enough of this soup! And, by the way, the sides of black refried beans and rice were also outstanding. The rice was very light and fluffy, too! Our server was warm, hospitable and very helpful. She (and owner, Edouardo), made us feel very much at home! Yes, we will be back...very soon!!!

Absolutely amazing!!!!!! First time visit, but it most definitely won't be my last last! Authentic Mexican food that makes me feel like I'm back in Texas! Don't come here if you want TexMex, something like On The Boarder, Cancun, etc.; this place is the real deal. Love it.

I've been back to Fonda 4 or 5 times since my first review, and they never fail to impress. The food is affordable, authentic, fresh, and delicious. I love the tacos and varying lunch specials. The fresh, mango mojito was great! Service is also a plus. The owner and waitress are always very friendly, polite, and accommodating. I'd highly recommend Fonda Mexican Cuisine.

BEWARE! I ate at this restaurant last week and a couple days later became violently ill and had to be hospitalized. I contracted a food-borne bacteria from the restaurant and as of Wednesday June 3, 2015, the health department and CDC are investigating this restaurant.

The food would've been 4-5 stars, the service was 1-2, so thus the 3. Anyway we went for Sunday brunch at 11 when they opened, and were the first to arrive. We started with 2$ mimosa and a bloody...they weren't as advertised. The bloody was like pickled vodka with a tad of tomato and the mimosa we were pretty sure was mango-rita, ugh. Our side of guac for 2.50 was pretty good, only complaint was the onion was in big chunks, but it was very fresh. The salsa was warm but good. And the small cheese dip was delicious, much thicker and tastier than that white soupy water crap you get from senor tequila and other similar places around. We both got taco dishes as that is how I like to judge a Hispanic place. I got tacos pastor, and got three on corn tortillas and came with black beans and rice for only 6.50, and it was a great deal, and some of the best pastor I've had in town, and I've been to many food trucks, mercados, and places all around town. My companion got some taco arribas? which were pork shoulder, and they came on flour tortillas, and she got 4 with no sides, but they were very tasty, and she doesn't eat beans so she was fine. All in all, we will probably be back, but the service and drink making must be corrected, and I think I only got 1 refill of water during the meal. I has good food, but I will put it down that we came at a bad time.

My husband and I along with two friends visited this restaurant last night. It was fantastic! We had never been here before, but this will definitely not be our last visit. The food was delicious and the margaritas excellent! They have an entire menu of different types of margaritas and I would love to try them all! Everything that the 4 of us ordered was mouth watering. The wait staff is friendly and the chef came out to visit with us. We stayed for over two hours and the place never was crowded. It is a gem of a place!

Great authentic food! The queso fundido is amazing and loved the quesadillas! The salsa was warm which was different, but not in a bad way. We enjoyed our meal and the service was great.

On the recommendation of a friend I went here understanding it was 'real' Mexican. I have since been back twice. If you go try anything with pork shoulder in it and you will be happy. This is my favorite Mexican place in Little Rock now.

Being from NM, I am pretty picky about my Mexican food and am often a little disappointed with what Arkansas has to offer. Though there were only a few reviews here, I felt that this could be a pretty promising place! "Real Mexican" got my attention. I must say 'first impressions' matter when dining out. My iced tea was so weak that it looked almost like water. After our waitress brought back a new glass, it was no better. The chips were pretty good but the 'salsa' was not great at all. The reviewer that said it tasted and looked like chunky tomato soup...she was right if you added chicken broth to it. I'm pretty much a stickler for wanting my food hot when it arrives. Everything on my plate except the chicken enchilada was 'warm' at best. The sirloin beef enchilada was downright cold and the first bites of the sirloin enchilada had grisel running through it so it was not edible. I could tell the beans and rice had some flavor, but since they were cold, they weren't really worth it either. The entire meal was spent wishing I was at Chuy's, On the Border, Senor Tequila, or some other restaurant. It might be worth another try if the simplest things like iced-tea and chips & salsa would have been impressive. However, if those things can't be done right and my entree' was served 'not hot', I don't really see the point in returning when I know other places have much better.

Visited Fonda for the first time Friday night. The place was pretty busy, but service was top notch. Our server Marri, took time to explain all the hand crafted margaritas in detail and helped us choose the ones we would enjoy the most. She also suggested the Mahi Mahi special that was absolutely the best fish dish I've had in any restaurant, EVER. The chicken quesadilla my daughter ordered had the best tasting chicken we've ever tried. Looking forward to our next visit soon!

Excellent carnitas, good salsa for chips, very mediocre margaritas and friendly service stood out to me during our visit to Fonda. The carnitas were so tender... Really flavorful. For $9 it's not cheap or expensive-- but it's good food at an OK price. I'd forego the margaritas though.. Nothing overly special just very sweet. Tip: Saturdays they have $1 tacos!

What an amazing authentic Mexican restaurant! Absolutely BEST margaritas money can buy! Say no to queso, say yes to Fondito!

I hate to be the odd man out with all of these glimmering reviews...but, i was just not impressed. I have had Texmex, Calimex, Authenic mexican food (in mexico), and South American cuisine...and i'm just not sure what angle they are going for. It was sooo flavorless. the salsa was not spicy...but, oddly warm, like a chunky, unsalted tomato soup. The beans are flavorless, entree was unmemorable. Service was lacking (no drink refills, waited waaaay too long to receive check on a very unbusy Sunday) this was a very disappointing meal and experience.

Well as I wrote a rave review for my previous experience there, this time was a WHOLE different story. First off we come in and they had 1 person working there that did NOT know how to make drinks. She had to call someone to walk her through it. Not only did it take forever but they were awful. As the owner shows up 15 or 20 minutes later we still have yet to get water, the food order or chips and salsa. It as a huge let down as I was really looking forward to going again! Let's just say it's a hit or miss. So try at your own risk. The previous experience the owner was outgoing, friendly, spoke to you. This time was complete opposite!!!

Everybody in my family loved what they ordered! Our waiter warned us this is Mexican, not Tex-Mex. It was FABULOUS! Drinks were authentic, unique & wonderful. Too bad we're just passing through. Would definitely come again!

Second time here and tonight was excellent. The queso fundido is so flavorful, especially when you eat it in their homemade tortillas. My chicken fajitas were very tasty, and my strawberry margarita was excellent--and large! Lucy was my server and she was super attentive and made sure I was pleased with everything. If you haven't tried it, you are missing out. I fear it won't be here long since they are never busy.

I can not say enough about this place! I've visited 8 times or so since it opened. The food is more authentic than any of the other options in LR. Don't think of this as going out for Mexican. Think i'm going to Fonda for a unique meal.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
